The autumn wind rises and falls, marking a year; opening and closing our eyes, marking a day. The speed at which time passes is often unimaginable until we reflect on it afterwards.
Someone once said that a person's life is roughly only 1000 months. If we try to draw a chart to record these 1000 months, erasing one every month, we can feel the passing of time.
So, in these short months, what can we do? Around me, there are many people like this: sleeping and playing with their phones during the day, playing games until late at night after class. Of course, I am not criticizing this lifestyle, nor do I look down on them. After all, it is their choice, and we don't have much reason to interfere in their lives.
However, we are not much different either, spending these years following the rules: studying what needs to be studied, taking exams when necessary. We face and deal with the same things.
Not everyone has the courage to break these rules and seek their own true life. In my opinion, they are the ones who can truly criticize others. Although they may not necessarily be seen as "successful" by others, they have already succeeded when they take their first step.
"Standing on the shoulders of giants," this is the path to success that we have been taught since childhood. Yes, of course, I will not deny the brilliance of those who have successfully climbed onto the shoulders, but I also cannot forget the majority who have fallen, even if they were just one step away from success, they will never be remembered.
I believe that anyone who has received compulsory education will remember the phrase "How can a sparrow know the ambition of a swan," but I can no longer recall which book or who said it. I still remember when we first learned this article, our reaction was basically "This person is amazing, so full of ideas." That's what I want to say: try to become a giant and let others stand on your shoulders. Perhaps countless people have had this thought, but then it was washed away by time, including myself.
I tried not to turn this article into a piece of motivational writing, nor did I want to encourage others to drop out of school or anything like that. The intention of this article is to try to awaken the dreams that have been forgotten by time, to give you more motivation to pursue your dreams in your studies or work. That's enough. Of course, the audience also includes myself.
When we were young, we dared to say loudly, "I want to be a scientist" or something similar, but as we grew up, we no longer hear such words. Instead, we think, "Forget it, let it be."
Lonely people may not be able to explain why they are lonely, and mediocre people definitely have their reasons for mediocrity. In my opinion, there is a huge difference between being ordinary and being mediocre. I can be ordinary, but I refuse to be mediocre.
Either a grand avenue, bustling with activity.
Or a small path in the woods, with barely any visitors.
